Capturing Fine Art: Photography Student Session

Capturing Fine Art: Photography Student Session

by Raquelle Millbrooks, Contributing Writer

On Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10-12 pm, our student ambassadors engaged in a quality photography workshop with Keith Renard. Students cannot wait to use their newly developed photography skills on their trip to Accra and Cape Coast, Ghana.

Mr. Renard spoke to students about various photography methods to enhance the appeal, and emotion photos can bring to viewers. The SCARE method involves taking photos that are simple, close, use different angles, and encompass rule of thirds or evenness of light. He was able to show different photos that included landscapes and portraits, to demonstrate the different concepts within this method.

After receiving great tips, students split into two groups to hone in on their new skills. Once they regrouped, all ambassadors shared their photos with each other. Mr. Renard identified the photography concepts students put into action, and expressed his love for the individual photos. We’d love to give a huge thank you to Mr. Renard for his upbeat and exciting presentation! Our students took away valuable information about simple concepts that can make a huge quality difference in capturing remarkable art. One of our student ambassadors, Moses, thanked Mr. Renard for sharing his photography skills

Most people believe that it’s impossible to capture stunning photos without investing in a professional camera. Now, our students are able to use their own personal phones to take memorable photos that will spark interest in their social media audiences. One Step Initiative looks forward to seeing how our student ambassadors use this photography workshop as they travel in one of the top lifetime travel destinations.
