THE IMPACT
One Step Initiative (OSI) introduces to our nation’s most underserved inner-city high school students study abroad and service learning opportunities for educational experiences and college credit.  We offer college credit for our four to six week programs to encourage them to continue their education, create a high school to college pipeline, while developing respect and integrity for another culture.

WHERE IT STARTS

Memphis has a high school dropout rate of 30%, with more than 7,000 students leaving the educational system every year. Melrose High is one of 70 schools in the city classified as “under-performing,” and also located in one Shelby County’s most economically challenged areas. 4 out of 5 of our teens have never traveled outside of the city limits. Often times the family simply can’t afford to go anywhere else. The OSI program is designed to help disassociate under-performing from lost cause.
