“I can learn what’s best for me by the experience I might gain.”
– Brayla Phillips
When you meet OSI Global Ambassador Brayla Phillips, you are immediately drawn to her energy and intelligence. The high school senior has a keen interest in technology and aspires to study engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Brayla is an exceptional student at Freedom Preparatory Academy in the Westwood neighborhood where she has completed all the mathematics courses available in the school curriculum. Now, she serves a mentor to her peers as an AP Calculus tutor and studies AP Statistics independently.
“There should be evidence to back facts up.”
In addition to having a strong academic foundation, Brayla is member of Freedom Prep’s 2017 state championship-winning rugby team. The youngest of four girls, she enjoys Japanese Anime and considers herself to be a freethinker who believes in facts because “there should be evidence to back facts up,” she explained.
Brayla jumped at the chance to participate in the OSI Youth Global Ambassador Program and to study abroad because, “I can learn what’s best for me by the experience I might gain.”
