MEMPHIS, TENN, (Jan 28, 2018)— One Step Initiative hosted its 3rd International Business Mixer of Greater Memphis at the historic National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine. Founder of One Step Initiative, Brian Booker welcomed guests followed by an introduction of the Mistresses of Ceremonies for the evening; 2017 Youth Global ambassador and GRAD Academy graduates, Alum Kyla Lewis (freshman at University of Memphis) and Chiquirra Madkins (freshman at Harding University). The event served as an opportunity for students to meet international business professionals, and fundraiser. Special presentations were provided by Dr. Sharon Griffin (Chief of Schools, Shelby County Schools), Ernest Strickland (Senior Vice President of Workforce at the Greater Memphis Chamber), Ricky Tucker (President, Black Business Association), Jennifer Prudhome (Chief Operating Officer, One Step Initiative
Inc). Performances included musician and philanthropist Ekpe & Company, with silent auction featuring artwork by fine artist Lester Jones, Donald Leonard, muralist Siphne Sylve, along with painters Darlene Newman, Stacy Ferguson and Carnell Williams.
The event concluded with a passport ceremony and presentation for student participants. Over 200 invited guests were in attendance and funds were raised towards OSI’s program goals.
